How to Prepare for a Mini Session

COLORS

The colors that photograph the best are neutrals, like blues, greys, whites, maroons, mustard yellows and greens. If you wear something bright and crazy it can be distracting. We want the focus on you and your family not your clothes. When choosing colors choose a main color and an accent color.

STYLE

When you are trying to figure out what to wear if there is more than one person included in your session, try not to have everyone one wear somthing busy (plaid, floral, striped, polka dot, ect). We have found what works best is a 3/5 or 1/2 or 1/3 wear busy shirts and the others wear plain sold shirts. Also stay away from logos, sayings and characters on shirts.

SHOES

The best shoes to wear is something comfortable and black, brown or grey. We do not photograph feet much but when we do you don't want bright red or bright pink minnie mouse sneakers showing in your photos.

ACCESSORIES

When chooseing jewelry you want to make sure they match with the color scheme or they don't stand out. If you love bright colors and glam it is fun to color pop, if you wear grey have your jewelry a fun bright color within the scheme of everyone in the session. Also make sure you are not wearing a hair elastic on wrists, it is not cute in photos.

Make-up

The best thing to do it keep it a natural bold go a little more than you normally do but not to much where you don't look like yourself.

Hair

For hair you can keep it like your normally do but its a good idea to style a little more than you normally do.

If you have children that normally take naps please make sure your child naps before the photo session.  We also suggest to give kids a snack before the photo shoot, also a great idea to bring more non-messy snacks. Kids get hangry sometimes, this will help with smiles. Also what often can help with smiles is to bring small favorite toys that make them happy.

The day of the session

Drink plenty of water.

Get your all your outfits ready and on hangers. It helps from wrinkling and easier to find when you are getting ready.

Give yourself plenty of time to get you and your family ready so there is no stress of rushing to the shoot or being late.

Mini sessions are a set location and time it is always best to make sure you are at least 1o minutes early to make sure you can find the location for your session spot.

Also please don't put a hair elastic on your wrist it can leave a red mark on your wrist.

Have fun this is going to be a great experience for you and family.
We love to capture the interactions of you having fun along with some traditional portraits.
We will help you with the rest at the session.
